Fingerprinting for DCF child care and summer camps

Child care personnel in Florida need a Level 2 fingerprint screening before they start work. DCF screenings need two numbers from your employer: the ORI and the OCA.

Getting your ORI and OCA

Both numbers belong to the child care facility or camp, not to you. The provider gets them from DCF and starts your screening in the Clearinghouse. Ask your employer for the ORI and OCA, or for the Livescan Request Form that shows them.

Without the right ORI and OCA, the state can’t process the request and DCF won’t know where to send your results.

At your appointment

Bring a valid photo ID and both numbers. We capture your fingerprints and a photo, which DCF requires. Workers under 18 still need to be fingerprinted.

After your appointment

DCF sends the eligibility result to your employer. Child care personnel are rescreened every five years, and again after a break of more than 90 days in the child care industry.

Your prints go into Florida’s Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse, which keeps them on file for five years. Another employer regulated by a participating agency can usually review your existing result instead of fingerprinting you again.
